Brief - Description of the Project:

PROJECT TAG: tourismhospitalityed
The ‘Tourism Hospitality NetworkED (THED) ’ project covers the latest technological developments in the world of tourism & hospitality education and training. The project focuses on training a teaching team in the use of new technologies to enhance the facilitation of practical learning around the tourism & hospitality workplace. The project is tied to the Professional Development project Teacher Connect as well as funding from CSHT&H division (Nerolli Cassidy).
During the project the Teaching and Learning Resource Unit and a group of mentors (Hunter Institute, Otago Polytechnic) will support and work with the teachers in the classroom on:
The use of online technologies to teach including web2.0 technologies. For example,

  • http://flickr.com - For sharing photos and training
  • http://del.icio.us.com - For sharing hospitality websites,
  • Podcasting - For delivering audio lessons…
  • The development and use of video technology for training and student learning; delivered via the internet , Mobile Phone PDA and/or video iPod
The target group is Wollongong Otago and Hunter TAFE Hospitality students.
